Welcome to Brooksby College, who engaged OMS as their Health and Safety ‘business partner’, at the beginning of February. Brooksby College is based in Leicestershire and is one of the most sought after colleges for Agriculture. It is situated on the grounds of Brooksby Hall, which is a beautiful setting. It has 2 other sites in Melton and is going through changes to increase capacity.

Our New Training Centre
We have also delivered our first NEBOSH course at our new Training Centre at Dromintree Road, Leicester and both the trainer and delegates have been very impressed with our new facilities. Have a look on our new website, for photos of the new centre.

Funding
There is funding out there, mostly via Business link, which can be accessed to develop your company or people. This is not just for SMEs, but also for large organisations. If you want to know more, get in touch with Sonny at OMS, or speak to your local Business Link representative.

Training during Recessions
Does it make sense for a company to train its’ people when times are hard and there is a lot of uncertainty?

One could argue that organisations can take advantage of the downturn. Look at what JCB are doing with 2000 of their people. JCB are furnishing their employees with the skills to withstand the economic downturn, with a view to taking advantage of opportunities and improving their competitive edge. In this climate, investing in the skills and development of employees will generate a loyalty and commitment to an employer, which will help them to become more sustainable and demonstrate a longer term vision.
