All workplaces must carry out an assessment under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).

These regulations require every employer to identify hazards, eliminate or minimise the potential risks from substances and take all necessary controls measures.

The HSE's guidance booklet COSHH Assessments HS(G)97 recommends that although the assessment process can be started in-house, an external specialist may be required to assist you in making your assessment.
